Admissions

All existing entry criteria currently in place will remain for 2022 entry.

The course codes will not change for September 2022 entry.

If you have applied for a course in Carlow and/or Waterford when it was an Institute of Technology, you do not need to re-apply. Your application will be processed under the same criteria for September 2022 entry.

There will be one combined SETU course listing for CAO undergraduate courses for the September 2023 intake making it easier for applicants to consider the broad range of courses the SETU has on offer.

Examinations

All regulations remain in place for the remainder of the academic year 2021/2022, both for the summer/semester 2 and autumn examinations. This includes the existing examination regulations, processes and policies.

There will be no change to the exam accommodations for the upcoming exam sessions, all accommodations will remain in place for the remainder of the academic year 2021/2022

There will be no change to how you currently register for your repeat exams, or the cost of registering.

You will access your exam timetables in the usual manner.

You will access your exam results in the usual manner.

Graduates

If you are eligible for an award while studying in the academic year 2021/2022, you will be graduating with an SETU award and will receive a SETU parchment.  

All graduate parchments will be issued at graduation ceremonies.

Policy Framework

There will be no change to the existing student academic policies for the remainder of the 2021/2022 academic year. These will remain per campus until reviewed during the academic year 2022/2023.

Registration

Current students do not have to re-register after establishment day on May 1st. All registrations remain valid in accordance with standard registration regulations and policies to the end of the academic year (August 2022).

Student ID Card

The current campus student ID card will continue to be the valid student ID card on each campus. A new student ID card will be issued to all students registered for the 2022/2023 academic year, which commences from September 2022.

Student Email

The current student email address will continue to be the active student email address and will continue to be used until further notice.

The existing Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) platforms currently in use in each campus will continue to be used until further notice.

Privacy Notice

Q: How does this impact on my data privacy rights?

A: On the 1st May 2022, the Institute of Technology Carlow will merge with Waterford Institute of Technology to become the South East Technological University (SETU). On that date, this Student Privacy Notice will be adopted by the South East Technological University for the Academic Year.*

*Part 4 of the Technological Universities Act 2018 transfers all of the rights and duties of the Institute of Technology Carlow and Waterford Institute of Technology to the new ‘South East Technological University, from 1st May 2022. This will mean that South East Technological University must only process your personal data in line with this privacy notice.
