Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sports Management and Coaching

Graduates from this programme are employed in sport performance environments with the Football Association of Ireland, Gaelic Athletic Association, Leinster Rugby and private sports providers. Other graduates have developed successful careers in banking, sales and marketing and other business functions.  

A graduate survey has revealed that over 80% of the graduates are in employment while the balance are pursuing further studies.

The cross-functional competencies and skills of business management and sports coaching equip the graduate to undertake employment in sports and business environments. Modules are delivered in an applied setting with an academic underpinning. This allied to the focus on having students prepared to enter the workplace allows the Graduate to add value immediately in their work setting. The work placement component in year three provides the student with an opportunity to work in a sporting or commercial organisation and gain valuable experience in a work environment. Exposure to different coaching environments delivered through the SETU Carlow partnerships with the National Governing Bodies of the GAA, Leinster Rugby and the FAI is part of the programme and allows the Learner to develop their skills. The students also have the opportunity to obtain nationally recognised coaching qualifications.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Management Practice

Graduates are enjoying successful careers in all business related functions. The linkage to sport for the initial three years of the programme allows graduates to work in sport and in the business of sport.  The practical application and theoretical underpinning of this programme allows the graduate to add value to an organization immediately.  Students are provided opportunities to develop their graduate attributes throughout the programme by way of group projects, engagement with external stakeholders, problem solving and presentation of completed projects based on simulated scenarios. The Work Placement module in year three, created after stakeholder consultation, allows students to experience a live work setting and prepares the graduates for the world of work, post college. 85% of graduates who responded to a survey are in employment and the remainder are pursuing further studies.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Digital Marketing with Analytics

The Level 8 BSc (Hons) in Digital Marketing with Analytics was designed in response to the rapid digital developments of an evolving Marketing function, and skills deficits in digital marketing and analytics. With input from employers seeking highly qualified marketers, this innovative programme delivers modules in marketing, digital technologies, analytics, and design to ensure our graduates bring a unique blend of creative flair, analytical & commercial acumen to their chosen career path. A dedicated focus on data analytics is a unique feature of this programme and our graduates will have a level of analytics expertise highly prized by employers. A three-month long work placement in Ireland or abroad in Year 3, or opportunity to study abroad, allows our learners to broaden their horizons, develop an international perspective and meet the demands of employers for graduates with relevant work experience. 

From year 1 of the programme learners will engage with local and regional organisations & employers through their research based live projects ensuring the development of key SETU Carlow Graduate Attributes and core transferrable skills including teamwork, communications, customer & business awareness, problem solving and a positive professional attitude. 

Regular guest presentations from industry and past graduates allow learners develop a sense of their potential career path, while engagement with the college Careers Services and employers seeking graduates, provides access to job opportunities. Additionally, our programme is accredited by the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII) for its graduate membership programme, and qualifying graduates may avail of the professional designation MMII Grad. 

Graduates of this programme are ready to enter the workplace or take on further study. They play a vital role in the future direction of professional marketing practice in Ireland and beyond and will possess a strong sense of their social and environmental responsibility as Marketers of the future.
